It was founded in the pre-Etruscan age, before the arrival of the Romans, in an area that has been inhabited since prehistoric times. Arezzo raises up in a central position in Italy, near the Apennines, in a region rich in history and typical Tuscan landscapes.

Arezzo offers many points of cultural and artistic interest. Religious buildings in particular have a great relevance, both due to their historical value and beauty and to the preciousness of the works of art they enshrine. Among them are the Cathedral (with the fresco Mary Magdalene by Piero della Francesca), the Church of San Domenico (where you can cherish the magnificent Crucifix by Cimabue) and the Church of San Francesco (with the fresco Legend of the True Cross by Piero della Francesca).

Do not miss a visit to Piazza Grande, considered by many as one of the most beautiful places in Italy. There, you can admire one of the best projects by Giorgio Vasari, the imposing Palazzo delle Logge (Palace of the Loggias), designed in 1573.

Several public events are interesting as well. One of the most fascinating is the so-called Giostra del Saracino (Saracen Joust), where the four districts of the city compete in a traditional knightly tournament.

It is worth mentioning the fact that Arezzo was the set of the Academy Awards-winning film Life is beautiful by Roberto Benigni. Have a walk through the city to discover the places where the director and the actors gave birth to this masterpiece.
